Bob Blackman MP meets TNT Posties at Harrow Delivery Unit
Bob Blackman, MP for Harrow East, visited his constituents working at the recently opened TNT Post delivery unit at Barratt Way Industrial Estate. The opening of the delivery unit in February created 100 local jobs for Posties delivering business mail in the area.
Many of the Posties were long term unemployed prior to joining the company which has focussed its recruitment on encouraging young unemployed people to apply for the new roles.
The 100 new delivery staff are part of the 400 new recruits to TNT Post in North West London and Harrow this year and join 1000 Posties already working in West, South West and Central London.
During the visit, Bob talked with constituents who had found work with TNT Post and how they are getting on in their new roles.
Bob Blackman MP, said: “I was keen to meet with the delivery staff and to get an insight into the working practices of TNT Post, given the significant increase in the amount of post dealt with by this company. This has been an educational and interesting visit and I look forward to maintaining a dialogue with TNT Post as they expand services into Harrow.”
Nick Wells, CEO TNT Post UK, commented:
“We were delighted that Bob wanted to meet with some of our Posties and the opportunity it gave them to discuss their experience so far in their new jobs.”
