TNT Post, the UK’s largest private postal company, has created 500 new jobs by expanding its end-to-end delivery service into South West London.

The new posties, many of which have been long term unemployed, live in the local area. The areas include Hammersmith & Fulham, Wandsworth, Merton and Lambeth, where over 500 people have found employment.

The successful candidates were recruited through a number of partners that work with TNT Post, including 95 from the Work Programme for the long term unemployed or Youth Contract, 95 from TNT Post’s Pre-Employment Training course, 15 from Remploy and the remainder from local job centres. 150 of the new employees are between the ages of 18-24.

TNT Post has created a total of 1,000 jobs in London since April 2012 when it began a trial of its delivery service in West and Central London and has plans to create 20,000 jobs across the UK in the next five years.

TNT Post will deliver its clients’ mail directly to households and businesses in South West London using its new track and trace technology where every letter is scanned before delivery. This new technology improves delivery efficiency and security of mail, tracking a letter from collection to delivery to the consumer. Royal Mail will also continue to deliver the mail directly to households and businesses in the area.

With a 98.5% first attempt delivery rate and track and trace technology, TNT Post is committed to delivering an innovative and efficient service. TNT Post’s end-to-end growth in South West London marks a further milestone and is part of the expansion programme which is expected to result in the creation of 20,000 jobs across the UK in the next five years.

Nick Wells, CEO TNT Post said:

“With a 98.5% first attempt delivery rate and track and trace technology, TNT Post is committed to delivering an innovative and efficient service to the residents and business community in South West London. We are pleased to be able to create 500 new jobs in the area, especially for the long term unemployed and young people.”
