Tom Clarke, MP for Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill, visited the TNT Post UK letter sorting centre in Coatbridge, Glasgow to congratulate the company on creating 140 jobs over the past 6 years and oversee developments at the busy postal hub.
Established 6 years ago, the TNT Post UK depot now employs 140 staff on a 3 shift pattern over 6 days. During the visit, Tom Clarke was shown around the site by Alan Morris, Regional Director and viewed the latest machinery and technology the company has invested in in recent years and met some of the staff working there.
The depot, which handles 3 million items of mail a day, is Scotland’s central TNT Post UK hub and handles mail for clients both in the public and private sector. In Scotland it is estimated that over the past four years the company has saved the public sector around £7 million in postal costs enabling to reinvest resources in other priority areas.
TNT Post is the largest private sector mail business in the UK.
