Over the past 18 months, parts of London have witnessed a new type of postie walking the streets. 

Dressed in a distinct black and orange uniform, travelling either on foot or by bike, TNT Post Posties are hand delivering mail to local residents and businesses. 

When we first started in West London in April 2012, we opened 3 new delivery units and delivered to approximately 317,724 households.  We had delivered about 9.6 million items of mail over a period of 8 months.  By July 2013 we had expanded into central London and had doubled in size in terms of units and coverage.  We now have 12 delivery units that reach an overall 667,400 households, with a total of 1000+ posties and now delivering over 26 million items of mail throughout this year.

When starting our E2E journey, we wanted to provide businesses with a choice for their postal delivery service.

Following the success of London, we’ve decided to expand the trial, to Greater Manchester.

The new postal service in Manchester will begin in November and we’ll be aiming to deliver to around 540,000 households in the area.  11 new delivery units will be opened resulting in a grand total of 23 units overall and we will have recruited over 1000 additional posties.  This new expansion into Manchester has really boosted employment in the area.  We have been able to offer  job opportunities to local people and help many of them who were unemployed get back to work.

This follows the recruitment trend in London.  We have helped a diverse range of people from a variety of backgrounds, find employment.  This has included the long term unemployed, those wanting additional working hours to fit in with other responsibilities e.g. a carer or those leaving university and wanting to find a full time job.  The flexibility of the working pattern we offer helps many people continue with other day-to-day responsibilities and get back to work. 

The E2E service we provide benefits businesses too with our track and trace system which allows businesses to see when their mail items have been collected  and when the mail is received by the recipient.  This gives customers peace of mind that the final stage of delivery has been completed successfully.
