On Sunday 23rd March, two TNT Post UK employees endured a challenging half marathon, all in the name of charity. Starting in windy conditions at 9am, Jon Ormond and Gary Maddock set off on their 13 mile journey around the city of Liverpool, with the aim to complete the race within a 2 hour time frame.
Initially starting as something to do for a bit of fun, it soon became a challenge to complete for a charitable cause once news of the guys entering the event spread round TNT Post. It was decided from here that Jon and Gary would be sponsored by the business to complete the event within 2 hours and the money would go to two charities; Crisis and M.A.S.T.
Crisis is an organisation which helps homeless people get back on their feet and into work, something we have been doing as part of our End-to-End development by helping the long-term unemployed get back into work. The other charity M.A.S.T enables young people to achieve growth and personal development through sail training and embarking on life-changing adventures, for people like our apprentices. Both charities reflect the work that we are doing as a business to not only change the face of mail but to also help change lives.
After a long 13 miles, both of them managed to finish within the time frames; Jon finished in 1 hour 57 minutes and Gary 2 hours 7 minutes. Considering they only entered 7 weeks prior to the event they both achieved a fantastic result. Well done Jon and Gary!
