We all know that Christmas is on its way and that it is a busy time of year.  It is more than likely that many of you are prepared for the Christmas rush and don’t need to be reminded of the amount of months/weeks/days that we have left until the festive season is upon us.

However, if you are an ecommerce business there are a couple of useful tips that we want to share with you that can help in the lead up to the Christmas period.

Firstly, one of the biggest days to affect ecommerce businesses is today ‘Cyber Monday’.

This is a term used by Marketers as the busiest internet shopping day of the year which has happened today, Monday 2nd December.  This is the day that online traders will expect to see an increase in ecommerce activity from their consumers.  But it is not just today that you need to think about, it's the days that follow that are crucial to be prepared for.

As a business making sure that you reach all expectations of your consumers demands is vital especially if you want to increase customer retention.  Email updates to your consumers will build the relationship between you and your consumer.  Being updated with the process of their items gives your consumer reassurance their purchase is being prepared and therefore the closer they are to receiving it.

Secondly…Keep an eye on the trends

Keeping an eye on your consumer’s online activity is important.  Analysis the trends that have happened from previous years, monitor what your competitors are doing in the lead up to Christmas.  Understanding and knowing the facts will help, i.e. last year Britons spent more than £81bn online and between November and December 21% more items are moved on a weekly basis.

Having an understanding of this online movement will help you to provide the best customer service to your consumers whilst also making sure that you and your business is prepared.

And thirdly, it is very important to ensure that you have a reliable delivery service

Check your postal operator’s Christmas delivery schedule so you can inform your customers as early as possible making them aware of the delivery dates and times when they are placing their order.  This communication will help build trust in the relationship with your customers.

The key point to remember is that consumer’s just want to find the best price/deal for the item they want whilst being able to complete the purchase process without difficulty and receive their consumables as quickly as possible.

We hope this information has been helpful and that you see success by utilising these in your lead up to Christmas.
